Walking the Circumference of Manhattan
October 22, 2018
And the walk about Manhattan begins…now! There will be pics, but only a few key selfies.
4 hours in and a little over 10 miles. A few pics from the first leg. Time for a rest.
8 hours in. 21.1 miles. Time for another 10-minute rest. Probably a little over half way through. Shooting for downtown by dark. Speaking of shooting, I made it through Harlem, but did see a bullet casing. Now I’m at 65th St on the East River.
Last rest stop. 30 miles in. About 5 or 6 more to go. Plenty of energy. Now it’s just a matter of feet and knees holding up. I did learn that ibuprofen is better every 3 hours rather than 4 (knock on wood!). Made it downtown for a great sunset. Now heading into the numbers on the Hudson side.
Done!!! 14 hours and 35 minutes. 36.5 miles. I hit every nook and cranny on the perimeter of this island. Van and Grunt surprised me and joined for the last mile. No blisters, cramps, or plantar fasciitis. Manhattan was amazing! Now time for a beer and some ice packs on my feet and knees so I can walk tomorrow.

A bit of morning pain in the hamstrings behind the knees. Ice, ibuprofen, and Tiger Balm are my friends today.
